How to png to jpg

  1. Add your PNGs. Drop in one or many images — batch conversion is supported.
  2. Choose a quality level. Higher keeps more detail and produces a larger file. 80-90 suits photographs; go higher for images containing text.
  3. Convert and download. Convert and save. Each image is encoded locally in your browser.

Things worth knowing

  • JPG has no transparency. Transparent areas are flattened onto a white background — if you need transparency, convert to WebP instead.
  • JPG compression is lossy and cumulative: re-saving a JPG repeatedly degrades it. Always convert from the original PNG rather than from an earlier JPG.
  • Screenshots of text and flat-colour graphics often look worse as JPG than as PNG or WebP, because JPG blurs sharp edges.

Questions

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything runs in your browser using JavaScript, so the file never leaves your device — there is no server to upload to. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.

What happens to transparent areas?

They become white. JPG has no alpha channel, so transparency has to be flattened onto something, and white is the standard choice. Convert to WebP if you need the transparency kept.

Why did my screenshot get blurry?

JPG is tuned for photographs and smooths the hard edges that text and UI elements are made of. For screenshots, WebP or the original PNG will look noticeably cleaner at a similar size.

Is EXIF metadata preserved?

No. Camera metadata and colour profiles are dropped during conversion, which is often desirable when sharing images publicly.
