Split PDF
Break a long PDF into smaller documents. Give it page ranges like 1-5, 6-12 and you get one file per range; or pull a single section out and leave the rest behind. Useful for separating a signed contract from its appendices, or a chapter from a scanned book.
How to split pdf
- Load the PDF. Drop in the file you want to split. The page count appears once it has been read.
- Describe the ranges. Enter ranges such as 1-5, 6-12, 13-20. Each range becomes its own PDF. A single page is written as 7.
- Split and download. Click Split. Each range is written out as a separate file and downloaded.
Things worth knowing
- Ranges are inclusive at both ends — 1-5 gives you five pages, not four.
- Ranges may overlap if you need the same page in more than one output file.
- Splitting copies pages as-is, so text remains selectable and image quality is untouched.
Questions
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser using JavaScript, so the file never leaves your device — there is no server to upload to. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
How do I extract just one page?
Enter that page number as its own range — for example 7. If you only want single pages rather than ranges, the extract tool is a more direct fit.
Can I split a PDF into individual pages?
Yes, by listing each page as a range. For a long document the extract tool handles that more comfortably.
Does splitting shrink the file size?
Each output is smaller than the original because it holds fewer pages, but shared resources like embedded fonts are copied into every file that needs them. Total size across the outputs can therefore exceed the original.
